Membership Information (Scroll down for Meeting Information.) Visit our facebook page ![]() Membership in the grotto requires payment of annual dues and entitles you to receive the Electric Caver, partake in all Grotto activities, stay at the Great Saltpetre Cave Preserve (GSP), and use Grotto material. Unless a grotto member is a NSS member, they are considered an Associate member and cannot vote or hold office within the Grotto. Since the Grotto is a local chapter of the Society, NSS membership is strongly advised. Dues for 2025 are due now. (Grotto dues run per calendar year.) Current members can renew their membership on-line at: NOTE: The GSP Gate Code WAS CHANGED on January 10th, 2025. If you prefer renewing the "old" way, by postal mail, download the GCG Renewal Form by clicking here, then mail it, with your check and signed Waivers (page 3 of the renewal packet), if necessary, to the address on the form. For New Memberships or for further GCG membership information, download the New Member Application Packet. Then contact the Membership Chair, Gary Bush , to complete your application. All Greater Cincinnati Grotto (GCG), Dayton Underground Grotto (DUG), Bluegrass Grotto (BGG), and Central Ohio Grotto (COG) members must submit a signed, permanent GSP waiver form. Click here to download the Waiver form. All adults (18 and over) must complete their own form. After completing and signing the form for every member in the family, you may scan it and email it to your Membership Chair. Otherwise, you can forward the signed forms to your Membership Chair via postal mail. Once submitted, you won't have to sign another permanent waiver, unless you change your address ... or your name. Meeting Information Regular In-person meetings of GCG will normally be held on the first WEDNESDAY of the month at 7:00 pm (ET) (except September's will be at GSP during Caver Appreciation WeekEnd AND December's will be our Christmas Party). For over 50 years, GCG meetings were held on the campus of the University of Cincinnati (UC). However, construction and parking issues there have required us to move our meeting location temporarily to other places. But, the Board is looking for a permanent location. Watch here for upcoming trial locations. Members and Guests can choose to either attend the meeting in-person or attend online with Microsoft Teams (link below). So, general meetings will normally be "hybrid meetings", both in-person and online. The next General Meeting will be on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 at 7:00pm (EDT) at the Walnut Hills Branch Public Library (more information below). We look forward to meeting with our members and interested guests, either in-person or online, normally the first Wednesday of the month. Check the calendar in case there are changes. Board Meetings are usually held online at 7:00pm (ET) on the Monday of the week BEFORE THE WEEK of the General Meeting. While only Board members can vote at Board meetings, members and guests are welcome to join the meetings and to provide input, where appropriate.
Following the business part of each General Meeting is an informative program. These programs range from slide shows of a member's recent cave trip, a technical demonstration of some specific apparatus, or a lecture by a guest speaker on subjects appropriate to Speleology. After the program concludes, we normally move to another location for a social get-together to casually meet and swap caving stories.
