2010 BOG Meeting
2010 NSS Board of Governors Meeting
The Greater Cincinnati Grotto is pleased to host the National Speleological Society’s, spring, Board of Governor meeting, April 16, 17., 18, 2010 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The BOG meeting will be held at the historic Union Terminal, home of the Cincinnati Museum Center.
Cincinnati has easy access to all major interstate highways and its international airport is close to all BOG venues.
BOG attendees arriving Friday will enjoy a meet and greet hosted at the home of Patricia and Robert Yuellig of the NSS and GCG. Hors d’oeuvres and Refreshments will be served and give travelers a chance to unwind and socialize with fellow cavers. BOG participants and GCC members hosting them with accommodations and rides will also meet at this welcoming event.
Saturdays BOG meeting will be located at the Cincinnati Museum Centers Natural History Museum. The historic Union Terminal. Union Terminal was a major railway hub through the 1930s to the 1950s. It now houses the CMC which includes the Cincinnati Historical society, Children’s Museum, Omni Max Theater, and the History museum. The Museum has one of the largest manmade Limestone and Ice Caves. Meetings will be held in the Adena and Mammoth/Trilobite class rooms near the cavern exhibit.
The Mammoth/ Trilobite room will accommodate up to 80. For smaller closed sessions the Adena will hold 35. Plenty of opportunities for lunch exist at the museum as well as the surrounding area. The closed door session will have lunch made available by the CMCs service.
Saturday evening The Greater Cincinnati Grotto will host a reception at one of our fine local establishments giving more opportunity for NSS and grotto members to mingle eat and drink.
Sunday BOG attendees can either go to a GCG sponsored trip or tour around Cincinnati to one its many sites. Cincinnati favorites are the Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Museum Center, Krohn Conservancy, The Freedom Center and Underground Railroad, Fountain Square, Newport on the Levee, Hofbräuhaus and Main Strasse in Covington.
